The Airespace™ 4000 Wireless Switch forms the core of the Airespace Wireless Enterprise Platform. It works in conjunction with Airespace 1200 Access Points and the Airespace Control System (ACS) software to provide a network-wide solution for intelligent RF management, security, and user mobility.
The Airespace 4000 Wireless Switch comes in two models: the 4012, which has twelve 10/100 Ethernet ports and the 4024, which has 24 10/100 Ethernet interfaces. These interfaces provide wire-speed Ethernet switching capabilities and secure communication paths to Airespace 1200 Access Points (APs) and third-party APs. The Airespace 4000 Wireless Switch also supports Power over Ethernet (POE) on the 10/100 interfaces, enabling IT managers to remotely power Airespace access points and third-party POE enabled devices.
The Airespace 4000 Wireless Switch has an optional Gigabit Ethernet port for high-speed connectivity to other network devices. This uplink can also be used to deploy the Airespace 4000 Wireless Switch in "appliance mode", whereby Airespace provides RF management capabilities as an overlay on top of an existing Ethernet infrastructure. |
