ABSTRACT:
Many corporations currently use content-filtering solutions that exclusively employ URL and file signature technology to monitor and prevent malicious traffic. But these solutions are now irrelevant. URL and signature-based technology are not agile and cannot keep up with present and future malware exploits. New malware exploits are so evasive and fast-spreading they can bypass URL and signature technology and go undetected for days or months. In the meantime an infected network has been compromised and robbed of proprietary and confidential information.
This white paper discusses current and emerging Web-based malware exploits, their methodologies, and their vectors of infection. It also offers guidelines for proper content-filtering solutions that use multilayer heuristic scanning to examine, detect, and mitigate zero-hour malware before it can infect the enterprise.
