ABSTRACT:
Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) has taken the web development community by storm. It's competitive with Flash, Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere (WPF/E), Java applets, and Mozilla XML User Interface Language (XUL) as a rich Internet application (RIA) technology. Ajax combines standardized browser technologies (i.e., JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets [CSS], Document Object Model [DOM], and the XMLHttpRequest [XHR] API) to create rich user experiences that integrate seamlessly with webpages. This Application Platform Strategies report by Senior Analyst Richard Monson-Haefel explains Ajax and recommends how an enterprise should adopt Ajax.
