ABSTRACT:
Sourcefire Adaptive IPS addresses organizations' need for better efficiency and effectiveness by sharply reducing or eliminating the effort required to tune Sourcefire's IPS sensors. The Adaptive IPS feature set consists of several components, including RNA-Recommended Rules, IPS evasion avoidance, non-standard port handling, and advanced self tuning - all of which work together to ensure that the Sourcefire IPS processes traffic without introducing "noise" or false positives, without blocking legitimate traffic, and without missing critical attacks.
