ABSTRACT:
Typically, customers have implemented storage area networks (SAN) to meet the performance and high availability requirements of their mission critical applications. Recent technology advances with Network Attached Storage (NAS), however, give customers another alternative to expensive and complex SAN deployments. This report explores how scale-out ExaStore clustered NAS systems deliver SAN levels of performance with the ease of management and the lower cost of NAS. In particular, this report presents the scalable performance capabilities of an ExaStore clustered NAS system using the latest version of the NAS industry standard performance benchmark (SPECsfs2008_nfs.v3). The excellent aggregate throughput capabilities of an ExaStore clustered NAS system, as recorded by the open source xdd utility, are also presented.
